What does it mean if the MD5 and the Sha1 numbers are NOT the same on the
..iso file as they are on the 5728 download page. It seems that My numbers
don't match the checksum numbers on the download page.....Thanks

See the following URL for an explanation:
http://computing-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/Hash+sum

An algorithm that turns a variable-sized amount
of text into a fixed-sized output (hash value).
Hash functions are used in creating digital
signatures, hash tables and short condensations
of text for analysis purposes (see hash buster).
Hash functions are also known as "cryptographic
hash functions." See hash table and one-way hash
function.

If you MD5 or SHA1 hash sum does not match the
one published on the web page, then your
downloaded file is not a valid, usable, .ISO
image; there are errors in the file.

Thanks for the response. So does that mean that the download was
bad...or...was it likely a bad burn? Looks like I will have to download it
again. I got the error 0x8001071A in My download of 5728. RC1 5600 downloaded
and installed flawlessly.

Yes, unless you can figure out some other way to
correct any errors after the file is downloaded.
However, I don't think there is.
