Today when I went to restart my puter, I got a message that "MCI command
handling window" wouldn't shut down. It took 5 times to finally get the
computer to restart. Does anyone know what it is or what it does?
Thanks
I have Win XP SP2, Zone Alarm Internet Security,

Open the Task Manager...
Ctrl + Shift + Esc | Click the Applications tab |
Locate: MCI command handling window | Right click it, if present |
Select: Go to Process

Go to Process will switch to the Processes tab with
the related process highlighted.

Post back with the name of the file. I.e. somename.exe if you find one.

Wcescomm.exe *might* be the real name for MCI command handling window. I
cannot find it for sure.

Wcescomm.exe is the Windows synchronization manager for Windows CE-based
handhelds.

Wcescomm.exe is also part of Microsoft ActiveSync.

There were 3,150 hits for "MCI command handling window" and nobody seems to
know what it is. And no, I didn't all the links.
