McAfee vscan boot sector problem

I am running McAfee vscan 7.1 in our site, with epolicy orchestrator version 3.01 used to push out updates etc. We are in a Windows 2000 active directory environment. All workstation XP Pro. All is well except that users, when attempting to manually initiate a system scan of their fixed drives, are getting errors not allowing them to scan boot sectors. They are able to complete scans when they are logged on as local admin. This obviously seems to be a permissions related thing, but I wanted to throw this up to see if anyone has an insight regarding a quick fix. Thanks

You may also want to post this in the following News Groups.

alt.comp.virus
alt.comp.anti-virus

I know for a fact that there are some NAI/McAfee personnel that read and post to them
(albeit anonymously).

I also suggest...
