McAfee VirusScan 6.02.3 and Windows XP Home Edition

Ok, I have issues, I know that. I just wish they weren't caused by my AV
software.

On my WinXP PC, VirusScan has no problems at first site. As other users,
however, no folders/explorer windows will open, and I get "Could not find
the AV files" messages all the time.

I know there's an issue with fast user switching, but I'm not doing that
(I'm logging off and on again), and I once "fixed" this issue by making all
users "Computer Administrators". However, since doing an online update the
problem has come back, and there's nothing I can do about it.

I've uninstalled VirusScan for now, until I find a resolution. At least
this way I can use my PC in the meantime. I've looked at Norton 2004 and
McAfee VirusScan 8.0 (which of the two gets better reviews), but would
rather work out what's going on with my current version.

Can anyone offer any advice?

Sparky.

I've had that kind of problem before , where admin rights have been lost to
administrators in win xp . you can try using the program called 'tweaki' for
win xp , there is an option to force administrator rights in it.

VirusScan v6.x is no longer supported by McAfee so you could have a problem with the latest
DAT/ENGINE with the software.

Go w/McAfee v8.x.
