McAfee Rebate Scam - Buyer Beware

M

Mike

Update to my original post. I re-sent in my rebate materials including
"proof of online purchase", "proof of online original upgrade" and 2
separate snail mail letters (since that is the only way to contact the
rebate department).

Each time I received a card rejecting my rebates for failure to enclose what
I already enclosed above. My letters were completely ignored.

I know it is only $40 bucks but it is the principle that they have blatantly
stolen money from me with the deception of a promotion in which they are
rejecting valid rebates and ignoring my requests to rectify the problem.

I always take pictures of the complete package I send in for a rebate as
irrefutable proof that all was included. There is a industry wide problem where
the consumer is getting ripped-off by the contracted companies to perform the
rebate process for the vendor. You can the take the irrefutable proof to the
vendor and handle it through them and not the third party.

The Quicken forum was abuzz with this problem. So where several hardware related
forums (i.e, ASUS).

My letters were completely ignored.

Which is why you should just get a copy form someone else rather than buy it.

Either that or calculate the difference of the amount they screwed me for
and consider that additional licenses for my other PCs.

An update on mine too, I ended up receiving my rebate that originally
was denied. Go figure.
