McAfee no 'scan' button

I have an up-to-date (I think) version of McAfee anti virus software on my
PC running Win Xp, SP2 with Win firewall active.

The 'scan for viruses' window in McAfee Virus Scan does not offer me a
button to manually start the scan process any more.

Does this indicate a worm / virus or am I just being dense?

TIA

Which McAfee software is it ? What is the version (retail or corporate) ?

You can test it here...

http://www.eicar.org/anti_virus_test_file.htm

Go to the bottom of the patch in the "download area".

Thanks but I am afraid none of the four suggestions fixed the problem.

I still can't use the McAfee 'scan for viruses' screen to do anything as
there are no buttons no matter what screen resolution etc. I use.
