Maxtor Shared Storage - Public folder R/W

Just installed the Maxtor 200GB Shared Storage
and am testing and reviewing for our usage...
Running firmware 1.2.2
Message also submitted to Maxtor FAQ.

We can see and R/W into the basic "Public" folder area,
but not R/W into any of the sub-folders such as "Our Documents".

In viewing the directory details from an Windows/XP machine,
the folder/directory owner appears to be "MSS-name/root".

Also playing with the Maxtor, although opted for the 300GB version--- it
took a bit of "finagling" do get the folders running properly--- as you
would likely agree, the documentation leaves something to be desired. Took
quite a few hours to set up and get it compatible with Zone Alarm and a few
other programs--- so far my only observation (though not a surprise as I had
read several reviews) is that it is a "little" slow reading and writing
through the router as opposed to my USB2 external hard drives.

Any good sites where tips or tricks for the Maxtor Shared Storage drives are
provided? Thanks.

on the mapping issue,
I'm going to have to walk thru what works and what doesn't.
I want to have mapped drives like ----
P -> Public area
T -> Test area
X -> project XYZ
