Maxtor-Promise controller card - someones got to be using one

After more testing heres how it stands:

Maxtor card - cant bootup with HDs (Maxtor HD) , cant use ATAPI
devices so far. Like my other boards that had builtin "extra"
controllers to add more IDE devices like the HPT or Promise, they seem
OK at first . THey show up in Windows and you can read from them. But
Direct CD (packet writing) cant communicate with it at all (using the
latest updates from EZCD 6.0) and tried writing an ISO - cant read the
disk.

Basically Id like to bootup from the card so I can move all the HDs to
the card and use my two first IDE connections for my ATAPI devices.

Using the ASUS Deluxe Nforce2 board not using the SATA connectors
which need adaptors ($30 EACH for both connections) to use my IDE HDs.

Another problem - I have 120(bootup) gig and 200gig and 60 gig
Maxtors.

Theres a problem as many state using the 200 gig - over 137 gig HDs.
Many controllers/boards cant handle it so Maxtor is once again
bundling the Maxtor controller PCI card with it. Also pre-service
pack WIN XP supposedly cant handle it. I have data on both already
and when I had to reinstall WIN XP over the old to bootup (wouldnt
bootup at all even in safe mode , even on the built in IDE connections
- blue screened. Works now but wont bootup on the Maxtor card) - what
happened with pre-service pack WIN XP is when I installed the Service
pack - suddenly the 200 gig came up with corrupted data and check disk
did its thing and I lost a bit of stuff on the disk.

Also if I use the 200 gig on the builtin IDEs it hangs during the
bootup process sometimes. On the Maxtor card it works perfectly.

This isnt really a big problem - just be sure to install the latest
WIN XP or service pack if you are using a bigger than 137 gig HD and I
want to use all the HDs on the Maxtor anyway but if anyone has any way
info on other problems with the greater than 137 gig disks that cause
it to hang then Id like to hear that too.

I thought I might partition it into two 100 gig spaces and see if that
fixes the hanging problem.
