Hi

I wonder somebody could help me.
Just installed Maxtor 6Y160PO.
After installation it runs ok but it shows 127GB instead of 160GB.
Formatted it twice but no change to the shown capacity
Run Maxtor own utility which shows no error with the hard drive.
I am running XP Pro.
TIA

Peter

Your need to check your motherboard for a BIOS update to support 48bit LBA.

Most likely, the problem is that the
BIOS of your motherboard is older and cannot recognize any harddrive larger
than 137GB, which was the limit for many years. If so, you either need a
BIOS upgrade or a new motherboard.

Yes. And now that you mention it it sounds like he's installing from a
pre-SP1 XP CD. XP 'original' can't partition over 127 gig.

Thanks a lot guys

It is indeed pre SP1 copy, BIOS is up to date thou.
Looks like reinstallation with formatting using Maxblast
Thanks again
