Hi

I wonder somebody could help me.
Just installed Maxtor 6Y160PO.
After installation it runs ok but it shows 127GB instead of 160GB.
Formatted it twice but no change to the shown capacity
Run Maxtor own utility which shows no error with the hard drive.
I am running XP Pro.
TIA

Peter

Hmm, does the BIOS in your motherboard support drives >137Gb?

or 48bit LBA addressing to be more precise :)

Bios update is definately in order. If the board manufacturer doesn't
provide the support for the drive, it is likely that there is a 'hacked'
BIOS for your motherboard somewhere on the 'net....you could try wimsbios

You will have to update WindowsXP to atleast SP1 as well to support this
properly.

Worse case, you may have to use the "drive limiting jumper" on the harddrive
to set capacity below the 137GB limit.

oops...didn't notice the thread above this :)
