maximum # of contacts can be saved in Outlook Contacts

Is there a limit for how many contacts can be saved or how much space the
contacts can be used in Outlook Contacts? I don't use Personal Folder
(.pst).

In MS KB 238569 it says each distribution list created in Contacts will use
Property store on Exchange server and each Property store is 8 KB. So is
there a limit how many property stores I can use for distribution lists?
Does a mailbox have its own property store or all the mailboxes on a server
share all property stores? How many property stores a serve can provide?

In an Exchange mailbox, the number and total space allocated to contacts is limited only by the mailbox size.

Each personal distribution list, however, can hold only about 120 names/addresses.

So Contacts are saved using mailbox space as you indicated. How about
personal distribution lists? Which storage space they use when saved?
Accroding to MS KB 238569 the limitation of how many contacts can be included
in a personal distribution list is due to the 8 KB limit of proprty store. I
also remember when I using Exchange 5.5/Outlook 2000 I found a MSKB from MS
Technet saying the storage limit for Contacts when using mailbox is 32 KB.
But I can't find it anymore. Just want to verify where Contacts and Personal
distribution lists got saved and how the limitation enforced if there is one.

Thanks.

All items located in folders in your mailbox are stored ... in your mailbox.

"Property store" means the space available in a single item to store properties. The limit for a single property is 8kb. The limit for the entire property store -- in other words, for all the properties -- is 32kb.

Regardless of the whys, the bottom line remains the same. Personal DLs store about 120 addresses, max.
