Is there some limitation of connections to shared folder in WinXPPro in small
netwok without domain? I have noticed taht I can not reconnect mapped
connection to shared folder when more then 10 computers are trying to connect
to this computer. Is there some way how work around this? We heve in our
basic school small network with 6 comp with WinXP Pro and 22 comp with Win XP
Home. One of WinXPPro is used for teacher (called TEACHER) and there is
shared folder. On others computers is this shared folder mapped via
TEACHER\SCHOOL account. Everything work fine when only first 10 or 11
coputers try to reconnect to this shared folder next others computers are not
able to do this. WHY???

Thanks for all responses.

Networking: Many networking features are identical in Windows XP Professional and Windows XP Home Edition. The main differences involve connection limits and simplification. While Windows XP Professional allows up to 10 simultaneous file-sharing connections, Windows XP Home Edition allows up to five connections only.

Windows XP Pro has a maximum of 10 simultaneous connections.
Windows XP Home has a maximum of 5 simultaneous connections.

The Teacher PC should probably consider moving to the Windows 2000 Small
Business Server or the Windows 2003 Small Business Server or one of the full
Windows Server versions. 2000 SBS has a maximum simultaneous connection
limitation of 49, 2003 SBS a limitation of 74, full Windows Server versions
have unlimited connections.
