Maximum Capacity error??

E

Eric Mann

We have an Access 97 database that is just over a half gig
in size (MS Access 2.2gig limit) and we are getting an
error that is telling us we have reached the capacity.
Tried compacting several times and running a repair, but
still get same. Any suggestions??????

There are other restrictions than the 1 GB limit in Access 97. For example,
you can't have more than 32,768 objects in a database (where an object would
be a table, or a form, or a report, etc.), or more than 1,024 modules
(including forms and reports with the HasModule property set to True). Do
either of those sound possible?

Try importing everything into a new database, just in case (some things
aren't freed up even by compacting).

Another possibility might be to do a decompile on a copy of your database
(see http://www.trigeminal.com/usenet/usenet004.asp at Michka's site for
details)

And, FWIW, you should never repair an Access database unless Access tells
you to: you can actually cause corruption if you repair unnecessarily)
