Maximize Issues

I am having a really weird issue. Whenever I try to maximize my window in
Word, it will maximize about 1" short of the top of the window. When I
restore, of course I can resize it and move it all aound, but then again when
I maximize it goes back to being an inch from the top. All other programs
work fine. I am a Microsoft Office Specialist so I know quite abit about the
programs, this is just really weird. Any ideas? Thanks.

You might try starting Word in Safe mode to rule out the effects of add-ins
or a corrupted Normal.dot.

I've seen that problem on rare occasions... in which Word's information
about the size of the system window has become corrupted. I've had some
success in renaming the Data key in the registry.

Could I just delete the Normal.dot and have the computer create a new one or
should I rename the Data key in the registry? If I have to rename the key, I
have never done that. Could you instruct me. Thanks.

They're two different tactics for trying to solve the problem. If starting
Word in safe mode "fixes" the problem [temporarily], then you usually can
fix the problem by renaming (or deleting) Normal.dot and/or by renaming the
data key... a lot depends on which is causing the problem -- corrupted
normal.dot, or a corrupted registry entry.

If starting in safe mode doesn't effect a temporary fix, then renaming
normal.dot and/or deleting the Data key most likely will not resolve the
problem.

This article (pertains to a different problem) details how to delete the
data key:
