Max Volume on Win.XP VS. Max Volume on Win.VISTA

Why is it that the maximum volume Windows XP's 'Windows Media Player' and
'Media Centre' can play a DVD is not as loud as what Windows Vista can play a
DVD?

The maximum volume in "volume control" is at maximum.

Perhaps the Vista version has equalizer settings or sound enhancements
that result in "louder" sounds?

I know when I use an enhancer with MP, it definitely gets louder with
the settings I choose to use

You can likely right click in the little speaker icon on the bottom
right corner and mess around with the settings, I have win2000 going
so I don't know. One thing though, if you haven't yet you could
consider getting a sound card
and upgrade to better speakers. The sound card alone makes the power,
volume much better.

Where can you get a sound enhancer?

Your local computer store would likely have sound blaster cards and
assorted better speakers. My card was sound blaster live and the
speakers are accent, which is a three piece set, both were around $20.
dollars
on sale. Even if you only listen to music or play games occasionally
it's worth getting.

What I don't understand is why the laptop's maximum volume when using Windows
XP is not as loud as the maximum volume on the very same laptop when using
Windows Vista. I noticed this after the laptop was upgraded to Vista. There
is only a difference in the maximum volume when playing DVD's or watching
recorded TV. Both XP and Vista play other files such as music files at the
same volume.
