MathType & font lowering

I created some superscript & subscript macros, and now, even after starting
with a fresh normal.dotm, Word lowers the font by 5-15 pt on either side of
equations from MathType. Anyone know (1) how to fix this problem or (2) how
to change the default font size & spacing for superscripts & subscripts
without using a macro?

You've probably seen these posts already, but taking a look at
the MS Online discussion groups site, there are two posts that
come up when I search with the strings MathType and "Word 2007".
The second post doesn't count because it's talking about a
different issue.

The first post (by Karl V) very clearly describes the problem
(though the comments by the one who responded to Karl's post
don't really help). I've personally been able to duplicate this
issue, but not exactly like you describe. I've never seen the
case where the text was lowered on BOTH sides of the equation --
only on the right side. Perhaps this is an issue with the macros
you created if it's happening to you on both sides. So, to answer
your questions...

(2) first. I doubt there's any user setting in Word Options that
will help.

(1) I've only seen this problem in the situation Karl describes
in his post. It only happens when you try to type text after an
existing equation, but doesn't affect the text that's already
wrapped on both sides of the equation.

This is something we've researched thoroughly, and have
identified as a bug in Word. We've reported this to Microsoft,
but they're more likely to see the importance of the issue if
more people (like you) report it as well. According to their web
site (http://support.microsoft.com/gp/contactbug), they want you
to phone in bug reports to 800-642-7676.
