Master_Slave Cable position

The way my system is laid out using a replaceable HD bay for removable
storage the ribbon (80 wire) pretty much has to be set up so the Master is
in the middle position and the Slave is on the end. I did find a 40 wire
ribbon where the connection lay out worked but this is not suitable for the
HD and controllers.

It seems to boot and recognize drives OK. Is the Master/Slave position on 80
wire critical? On 40 wire it wasn't as long as the jumpers were set
properly.

Position on the cable only matters if you are using the
cable select jumper settings, otherwise the master/slave
jumper controls.
