Did you make sure the existing DC2 server is your DNS server and it's
pointing to itself for DNS in IP properties?

Once you've straightened out the FSMO roles, you'll need to perform a
metadata cleanup to remove DC1's reference:

Thierry,

Just to add what Ace stated....

When using ntdsutil to do the Metadata Cleanup that Ace is suggestion ( and
I would really do that! ) you need to make sure that you heed the warning in
step 5. Remember, you are binding to the existing Domain Controller. As
Herb likes to point out, 'binding' is a technical term that means 'connect'
in ntdsutilese. A lot of people make the mistake of binding to the DC that
they are trying to remove. Ain't gonna work!

Also, make sure that the remaining DC is a DNS Server and a Global Catalog.
Also, you might just have to seize the FSMO Roles that the dead DC held.
You would use your new friend - ntdsutil - to do this. But as Ace stated,
first make sure that the surviving DC has all of the FSMO Roles and then
remove the dead DC from your environment ( as per the article ).

What errors do you get? Post them here if you can. It may
help with the diagnosis of your problems.
