Master Category List

I'm using Outlook 2002, re-set up this week on a new Laptop. When I added a
new Contact, I found that my customized Category List had gone & all I get
is the original Master Category List.

I have hundreds of Contacts & 20+ customized Categories & some Distribution
Lists, all of which show up OK when I click on the Contacts folder. How can
I get back to my customized Master Category List?

Hello Bob,

You're not the only one! If you're not real careful it is very easy to
migrate a .pst file and find that all your categories appear to be missing.
While the categories are techniclaly still there, they are no longer included
in the 'master category listing' on the new computer. The problem with this
is that they can no longer be selected from the list to assign them to new
items. In our opinion, Microsoft needs a utility that will allow the user to
add the categories in the imported .PST file to the pre-existing 'Master
Category Listing' on the new machine.

This issue comes up with great frequency and often those users have either
destroyed the old registry during the rebuild or simply do not have access to
the old registry. This is a real pain in the rear and needs a fix!
