Mass find/replace tool for Excel documents

Hello,

Not sure if this is where I should be, but I am referring to Excel docs, so
I'll start here. I received this email today, and was wondering if anyone had
any suggestions:

"Wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a mass find/replace tool
for use with Excel documents. Many of our departments have dozens if not
hundreds of Excel documents that are linked to other spreadsheets on the
server. The AD migration has changed the G:\ drive mapping, and now these
links need to be updated. Rather than update each spreadsheet manually, we’d
like to run some type of find/replace on the department’s G:\ drive to update
all the links in one shot.

We found a tool called “ExcelPipe†which seems to work fairly well, but it’s
pricey and the company is inconveniently located in Australia. I’ve found
several shareware/freeware tools, but they seemed either unreliable or
lacking features."

Any suggestions? Do you need any further information?

Thanks!

Why do the documents need to be changed at all?

The whole point of using G:\ in links is that you only need to re-map the
network drive definition on the computer instead of doing mass edits to
files. If you had used something like:

\\Server57s\FINANCE\Statements\1stqtr.xls

Then each reference would have to be changed.

Hi Gary"s Student - thank you for replying to my post.

"G:\" is the new drive location - it replaced previous drives (K: & P:, for
example), which no longer exists. However, there have been new folders
created to meet specific purposes on the new G: drive. Therefore, if a link
used to be
"K:\OfficeDeptFolder\filename, it's now something like
"G:\MAX-filer\CouldBeAnotherFolderName\OfficeDeptFolder\filename"

Based on your response, I'm not sure if I'm explaining this correctly...what
else should I provide?
