Mass File Rename

I deal with large volumes of files from a DNA sequencing company that are
returned with extraneous notation after the desired file name. Is there any
way, short of individually renaming each file, to truncate the unwanted
portion from multiple files at once?

Thank you.

I have used "superb batch renamer" on up to 1.5 million files in
thousands of directories.

You may be able to use scripting and wildcards, but that would require
more info on the filename.
