Marquee Length

You would want to keep the number of character low, since browsers that do not support the IE
Marquee tag will display the text as static, which could then alter your page layout.

Most browsers (not just IE) do support Marquee now. There isn't a max
length, put up what you need and you should be fine with ~95% of browsers
out there.

A lot of the sites, I work on still have a fairly high number of version 4 and older browsers.

My limit is 0. I can't stand annoying, usually unreadable, moving and/or
blinking junk when I'm trying to read.

But then, I guess I'm not the bleeding-edge kind of guy you apparently are.

The easiest way to find out is to put a very long string in there and see if
it breaks. If it does, keep making it shorter until it doesn't.
