Mark as read for forwarded and cc'd email automatically

I get a ton of email and it bugs me that I have almost 700 unread messages in
my email box....it would be great if there was a way that once I read an
email that has had many replies from several people that once I read that
mail, all prior emails on that same subject would automatically mark as
read.....is there a way to do this? It would be so much easier to weed
through the important stuff.
 
If you group your mail items by 'conversation' you can highlight the
grouping header and mark all of them read in one action (hit ctrl-Q on the
grouping) but I don't know of any automatic action that can do that.
