"Margins do not fit page size" error, but I'm not printing!

This is driving my battey!

It seems to take spells... when I am working on any excel spreadsheet
whether new or old, large or small, every once in awhile, I'll get a
little window that says "Margins are to small for page size" When
this happens, it never when I am printing or previewing, it usually
happens when I am hiding cells, or coloring cells, or changing fonts,
or something like that.

behind the error window, my display goes psycho and it has layers of
display overlapped and it puts different size gray grid lines, and I
keep hitting the "OK" button in the little window and it won't go
away. All I can do is exit without saving and reopen my spreadsheet.
Luckily i'm in the habit of saving about every 5 minutes, so I have
always been able to recover, but it's really irritating.

I have no problem printing, it seems to have no connection to printing
or previewing, or MArgin size, many spreadsheets have standard margins
or different margins, it doesn't seem to matter.

Any suggestions?

Doug

"It is a feature, not a bug" ;)

Seriously, it could be a printer driver problem rather than Excel
Might be worth looking for an upgrade

Doug,
I've been getting this lately with both Excel 2000 and with my upgrade
to Excel 2003. The upgrade has not helped. Anyone claiming this has
to do with your printer settings and/or drivers is probably mistaken,
and they have not had this problem. My priter margins, defaults and
settings haven't changed.

I feel that it is a memory problem, and hopefully Microsoft will
repair it. I started getting this when my spreadsheet got too big.
It even occurred when I opened smaller sheets, but then only after I
had received the message on the bigger sheets. I think this is due to
memory leaks, as I open and close a lot of sheets and applications as
I work.

The error normally first appears when I do a print preview, usally
selecting landscape view and fit-to-page together. When I cancel my
print job, and go back to working on the spreadsheet, the error dialog
returns intermittently, even when I am not trying to print.

To get around the error, I normally have to save my worksheet, close
all instances of Excel completely, then open Excel back up.

Good luck. I think this error will be with us for awhile.

Did anyone find a fix to this?
it is driving me mad!
i have exactly teh same issue. i use excel all day everyday.
after a certain amount of time/use?? it does eth page margins do not
fit, and puts each cell on a seperate page.

it is not a printer driver thing, others here have teh same printer
driver's, and excel, but don't use excel as much as me.

any ideas?

Thanks
Tim
