mappoint 2004 and vista home

installed mappoint 2004 on vista home. When I launch the program it freezes
on the splash screen. Running the program as administrator. I attempted to
run the program in xp compatibiliy but i receive a registry error before
program launch. I found one article that suggested the riched32.dll may need
replaced. I replaced this dll from the restore partition and did get
prompted to register mappoint but again it just froze on the splash screen.
Any ideas?

i sovled the problem by removing the word"microsft" from the path during
installation. I used KB article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314590/en-us
and only used the part about "reinstall in new folder" No problems after
that must be something in the registry as I've uninstalled and reinstalled
many times to no success.
