Hi All,

I have 2 boxes. One runs Win 2000 Pro, the other XP Pro. I have
successfully mapped a drive from the XP box to the 200 box. That
works just fine. (Although I cannot map by computer name for some
reason, only IP address).

However, when I try to map a drive from the 2000 box to the XP box, it
just keeps prompting me for a password, and never maps.

I only have 1 account on the XP box. I've tried mapping using that
account with and without a password, the Administrator account,
nothing works!

What the hell am I missing? This should be simple!

Thanks for your time.

Arthur,

please have a look at http://www.michna.com/WxNetwork.htm.

Is your User Name on the XP system the same as your user name on the
2000 system? When you try to map a drive on the 2000 system, I believe
that it will look for the name under which you are logged in to the XP
system as an authorised user _on_ _itself_ (the 2000 system). If it
doesn't recognise the XP user name, no password will work!
