Mapping accross subnets

Steve

What service or addressing allows mapping across subnets on a domain ?

ie for computer on 192.168.2.* to see computers on 192.168.1.* via a single
DNS with two network cards.

As long as each computer can resolve each others name in DNS and there's a
route then it should work by default. If you've got a router connecting
each segment then normally the router interface for each segment would be
the respective computers default gateway. If you're having trouble I'd
first start by seeing if you can map drives using the IP address and failing
that, can they even ping each other by IP address.

Have a common switch but not router.
Cannot ping or map accross subnets.

You need a router to route IP traffic between subnets.
Some switches do layer 3 routing, but if and how depends on
the individual switch.
