mapping a network drive over a domain with XP Pro

How can I get a drive mapped on WIN XP on a LAN? The drive is shared and
computer x can use it. The settings are identical for computer y, but I
cannot get the second machine mapped. Both computers are on the LAN domain
and each computer has it's own local domain. I have tried everything. Any
ideas??

Ann,

Please define "each computer has it's own local domain". Do you mean that each
computer is in its own workgroup? How many computers are you talking about?
Are computers x and y accessing each other, or do both access a third computer?
And what is "everything", that you've tried?

You could maybe look at "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all", from each
computer, and diagnose the problem. Read this article, and linked articles, and
follow instructions precisely (download browstat!):
