Mapped Network Drives are not connected

My Mapped Network Drives are not connnected after I restart my computer. This, according to Microsoft KB Article 283492 is how it should be. They do not reconnect the mapped drives so that the computer will boot faster. A yellow balloon should appear as a tip to ask it I would like to reconnect. This does not happen

Two question
1. If this is how it should be - is there a work around - we have 12 computers and it is a pain
2. Since it does not show the balloon to make it easy to reconnect is something else wrong

Thank yo

The only message I see is a brief one that tells you it hasn't been able to
connect to all mapped drives. I thought it didn't connect automatically for
security reasons as well but can't remember where I read this. The only work
around I remember seeing was one to suppress the message not to connect!
