mapped drive retention

I have 2 win2k workstation which will not retain drive
mappings after a user logs out - EXCEPT for the
administrator.

Any ideas? All profiles are local - logging in to the
local machine works fine, but logging into the domain
causes all desktop items and drives mappings to be lost.
This is only happening on my 2 Win2k boxes - my 9x and XP
boxes are working just fine.

Win2K identifies local users and Domain users as two
different entities, even if the password and username are
identical. As such, you get two different profiles
created. You can see that by opening C:\Documents and
Settings\ where you will see the local username USERNAME
and the Domain username USERNAME.DOMAIN. As a local
administrator, you can copy the Desktop and other folder
settings to the domain accounts.

Yep - have tried that with no effect.
