mapped drive opens using "open with" or autoplay

I'm putting a fresh install of XP Pro SP2 on a machine today. I had
everything reinstalled and set up nearly perfect, including the 2
mapped drives. Then I noticed I used the wrong drive letter on one of
the drives. So I disconnected it, and remapped using the correct drive
letter. However, when I did that, the mapped drive won't open by
double clicking. When I double click on the drive, I get an "open
with" dialog. I can browse to explorer, but it won't allow me to check
always use this program. I can see the drive through network places
and explore into it just fine, it's just that it won't open in my
computer by double clicking. I can right click and explore to view, or
I can double click and use the open with dialog box.

The odd thing is that when I right click, my first option is autoplay,
followed by search, and open (not open with). It seems like there is
something that is hammering this drive, but I don't know if it's from
teh server or the client side.

I've disconnected multiple times, tried using different drive letters,
rebooted countless times, and even used the command prompt and the net
use commands.

I need help.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that the other mapped drive continues to
function normally (double click and it opens).
