Mapped Drive Name

I have a Windows XP peer-to-peer network in which each of three computers
makes a connection to the root of the c: drive on each machine including its
own using e: f: and g:. If I browse these connections in Windows explorer
the connection name includes the computer description from the computer name
tab of computer properties. However if I change the description these names
are not updated. How can I force them to update?

Let me answer my own question in case anyone is interested.

It turns out the computer description of the mapped drive is dynamically
updated in the comments field.
The actual description can be renamed (right click, rename) to match the
comments field.
