mapi32.dll 'problems?'

John

Hello,

Everytime i got a failure message saying:

"An internal error has occurred in module mapi32.dll

Default mail account structure has damaged table of contents. It is
recommended to newly reconfigure your account records.
MAPI32 needs these informations in order to be able to send and receive
e-mail. Failure to do so may cause that some MAPI32 dependent applications
(such as Outlook and Outlook Express_ become non functional.

After that they're asking my name, e-mail address, smtp server, my login
name, password etc...

Well....except for this message everything including my mail services are
working fine.....

I don't trust anyone asking my password....but i can't get rid of this
message....

And by the way....i used ad-ware, spybot, cwshredder to look for malware but
i couldn't find anything...

Any suggestions??

Thanx, John

Hi, John.

I haven't seen such a message, but I agree that it sounds "phishy". I've
received a lot of phony messages in the past few days and have heard of many
others. The bad guys are working overtime, it seems - and they are getting
VERY good at tricking us. :>(

To check out mapi32.dll - and all the other WinXP operating system files -
run the System File Checker. At the Run prompt, type: sfc /scannow

SFC will compare each WinXP file with the "known good" copy held in your
on-disk cache and replace any missing or damaged ones. Have your WinXP
CD-ROM handy; SFC probably will need to see it.

What kind of message is this? Email? Pop-up? How does it arrive, and what
is your computer doing at the time? If email, what does the From line say?
If you press Ctrl+F3 (in OE), can you make any sense of the information in
the headers?
