mapi32.dll error - no fixes working

Hi there,

My Outlook suddenly won't open with the error message "mapi32.dll is corrupt
or wrong version". I have trawled the internet for possible solutions and
have searched for and renamed both the mapi32.dll and msmapi32.dll files
(with no effect) and also uninstalled/reinstalled outlook (with no effect).

I'm at a loss about what to do - does anyone have any suggestions? Your help
is very gratefully anticipated.....

I would first try a System Restore to a date before the problem started.

Another thing you could try is the System File Checker:
Start -> Run -> sfc /scannow
You will need your Windows install disk to run the SFC.

Please mention your Outlook and Windows version if you need more assistance.

Thank you so much for your response.

I'm afraid I don't have a Windows install disk as my laptop came with XP
pre-installed.

The System Restore is a good idea - I am a novice techie though - how would
I do this?

Thanks in advance, M

Depending on your Windows version:
Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> System Restore.
