MAPI32.DLL corrupt errors when I launch Outlook 2003

I am trying to fix an XP Home Edition computer on which Outlook was recently
re-installed to try and remedy a DLL launch error. All user accounts on the
system (three accounts) receive the following error message when launching
Outlook:

Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. MAPI32.DLL is corrupt or the wrong version.
This could have been caused by installing other messaging software. Please
reinstall Outlook.

I have also tried running "C:\WINDOWS\system32\fixmapi.exe," but to no
avail. ANY NEW SUGGESTIONS / IDEAS?

And if Diane's suggestion doesn't work, try renaming that DLL to .OLD and
restarting Outlook.

To Diane & Brian - I will have an opportunity to verify both approaches
tomorrow, and let you know if either remedies the problem. Brian's
suggestion was - ostensibly - already tried, and did not succeed.

Thank you both!
