MAPI doesn't work when I try and mail from application like Word.

When I try and send mail directly from an application like Word or PD Reader,
nothing happens. With some applications i get a MAPI error. What do I have to
do to fix MAPI.

This should be posted in a programming group such as
microsoft.public.outlook.program_vba.

You need to provide a lot more information about what you're doing and how.
Show the code you're using, mention whether you're using Simple MAPI or
Extended MAPI, the language, the Office versions and anything else that
might be helpful.

I have Professional Office 2003. All of a sudden when I tried to send mail
with attachment from Word nothing happened. The same is true when I am in
Adobe Reader and try to send the document using the send mail icon. I haven't
done anything on the programming side nor do I know how to see if MAPI is
running or not. By way of further example when in Word I select File->Send
to-> mail recipient as attachment nothing happens. Previously, an outlook
session would open and I just had to enter recipient and send.

Send To is Simple MAPI. If Outlook is your mail provider the Simple MAPI
calls should use the Outlook MAPI. It sounds like either Outlook isn't your
default MAPI provider or MAPI is broken.

In IE look at Programs tab and make sure Outlook is your mail and address
book provider, if that doesn't work find fixmapi.exe and run it. If that
doesn't work find and delete *mapi*.dll and then run Outlook's detect and
repair.

I am learning a lot, but still no joy. IE shows Outlook as mail provider, but
address book is blank and I don't know how to set to Outlook. I did run
fixmapi.exe, but no apparaent change. I ran detect and change, but got error
saying Microsoft Installer would not run. I guess my next step is just to
reload outlook, but I can't find my Office disk at the moment. Thanks for
trying.

I followed the instructions provided, but it did not fix the problem. Thanks
