Many Framework software versions on computer why?

I have in the software:

NetFramework 3.5 SP1
NetFramework 3.0 SP2
NetFramework 2.0 SP2
Net Framwork 1.1
Hotfix for Net Framework 1.1

Do I need all of these?
I have been having some problems with freezing of the computer and wondered
if this is a problem

Not sure about this, but I think it is because some Framework software are
designed to work with only the version of Framework used to design it. So a
software that is developed using Framework 2.0 may not work for Framework
3.0.
