Manual log on into Windows 2000

When I turn my computer on it automatically goes into my
desktop with all my icons I have set up. I want to be
able to put in a password first before Windows even starts
up for security purposes. Can you help me. Thank you.

Control Panel|Users and Passwords, then check the box for "Users must enter
a user name and password to use this computer", restart for effect. Make
sure you know the password beforehand.
