manipulated user-selected text

Hello,

I am using Access 2000 and have a form that contains a text box. I would
like to allow a user to highlight partial text in that text box, then click a
button on the form that would change that text to be surrounded by html
italicize code (i.e. replace it with <i> {text} </i>). The user only wants to
select certain text, not the entire box, and they want to do it on the fly. I
can't find VBA to address the highlighted text, then the copy and paste
action.

Any assistance is much appreciated.

You can't do this in an Access textbox. You will need to use a
third-party Rich Text control. A couple of examples:
