Mandrake 10.1 / Minolta DSE 5400 / Firewire (1394)

Anyone cracked this nut?
Linux / Mandrake (10.1 'official' distro)
Firewire (IEEE 1394)
Minolta DSE 5400

I've searched and there is little (nothing) in the way of anyone having
'done' this that I can find. I'm so new to Linux that it's an adventure
I can hardly understand, never mind accomplish myself without guidance...

I guess it would be too much to hope that Vuescan does this without a
hitch? (I haven't installed Vuescan yet in Linux either).

Oy! I DL'd Vuescan for Linux and it installed instantly w/o problems
and instantly connected to the scanner. Looks good. Need to play.
