I am pleased to announce a whitepaper that focuses specifically on the many
new policy settings available in Windows XP Service Pack 2. The document is
a logical next step beyond the Explain text see in GPEdit - while the
Explain text describes "what" the policy settings provide, this whitepaper
describes "why" and "how" you can use these policy settings.

Here's the URL:

I do Group Policy editing using the GPMC running in a Terminal Services
session on a Windows 2003 Server that is a domain member.

The .adm files on that server are the Windows 2003 versions (naturally),
which means that the new policy settings introduced via Windows XP SP2 don't
show up.

I know I can use GPMC on a Windows XP SP2 computer, but I prefer to use the
Terminal Services session to decrease network traffic and improve response
time.

To solve this issue, is the appropriate action to copy the .adm files that
come with Windows XP Sp2 to the Windows 2003 server? What problems if any
might this cause?

That is to copy:

conf.adm
inetres.adm
system.adm
wmplayer.adm
wuau.adm

from %systemroot%\inf on a Windows XP SP2 computer to %systemroot%\inf on
the Windows 2003 server.

The domain is a very large domain that I do not administer - I administer
only one OU subtree in the domain, including Group Policies for computers
and users in that OU subtree.
