Managing the Recycle Bin

Hello everyone,

I'm in charge of the network at a school. When the network was set up,
everybody had a Recycle Bin on their desktop. We use roaming user profiles. I
would like to:

a) Stop deleted files from going to the Recycle Bin, i.e. when their
deleted, that's it!
b) Stop the Recycle Bin from appearing on the desktop.

I've had a look at the available policies and would appreciate any advice on
the best way of achieving this. We run 2000 AD and client's are a mixture of
2000 and XP.

Thanks in advance,

Steven.

Steven,

You'll want to enable the user policy in Administrative Templates/Windows
Components/Windows Explorer/"Do not move deleted files to the Recycle Bin"

To remove the Recycle Bin from the desktop, enable Administrative
Templates/Desktop/"Remove Recycle Bin icon from the desktop"

Note that these policy settings only work on XP clients.

Hope this helps a little,

Tom
