Vista takes a long time to start up, even if you don't count the error
messages of the type "The Camera Connection Wizard has found a webcam more
than 3 months old". Then there's the antivirus update, Windows update (so
your applications become incompatible and have to be re-downloaded),
reminders about time-expired shareware, etc.
Sometimes, all I want to do is check my mail. Is it possible to configure
Vista so it goes about its business in the order *I* decide, for example by
launching the mail reader early in the sequence?
