How is this new? Malware has *always* evaded antivirus software -- from the
Melissa virus, written in a paltry 105 lines of Word macro code; to the
ILoveYou virus, written by a mediocre Philippine tech school student; to the
Kournikova virus, created in a few minutes by a guy who knew how to use
drop-down menus in a virus-writing toolkit we already knew about; to the
Goner virus, written by four teenagers who collectively only proved
themselves to be mediocre.

The entire global antivirus brain trust -- with its Ph.Ds and master
degrees -- can ALWAYS be outfoxed by a banal tweenie-bopper who just learned
how to write a batch file. The story you cited tells us nothing new.

misleading...

bad guys use sophisticated testing to create malware that can evade even
the best *scanners*...

there are other types of security programs that are better suited to
protecting against entirely new malware... whitelisting, HIPS, etc...
