Hello, I always download the Malicious Software Removal Tool via Microsoft
Updates, but how do I run the app? Does anyone know what the commands are?

Thanks

You do not.
The Malicious Software Removal Tool runs automatically, reports any problems
found and then deletes itself. If no problems, no report.

Thanks for the clarification... in the grand scheme of things... does the
tool do anything or actually work? Is it a better option than say McAfee's
Stinger in the case of an infection?

Thanks

it runs a scan in the background once downloaded and installed from
Microsoft Update.

If you'd like to see options and run it manually, then you should
download it from here:

I would not consider the MSR tool a replacement for McAfee or Norton but an
application that checks to see if your current program is doing it's job.
Kind-of a layered approach!
