Making Word insist on document properties ?

Svend Nykj?r

Hi all,

I generally set up Word to prompt for document properties each time I
have created a document and am about to save it, but is there also a
way to make it *insist* that I specify a property?
(Word2000 and WIN98SE)

Here is a tool if you want to use document properties in your document
management:

http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/MacrosVBA/DSOFile.htm

It's quite useful, but I'm surprised that there *seems* to be nothing
much around to constructively use the document properties; all I can
think of - other than the properties report that you can read about if
you follow the link - are *Find* and *Properties* in the *Open* dialog
box.
Anyone know of other tools? I, for one, would love one that not only
makes a report with user defined properties, but also adds hyperlinks
and then opens the report in Excel so that you can sort it in any
order on any property, and open your documents from there.

Click the "Tools" menu, select "Options", click the "Save" TAB, and check
the "Prompt for document properties" option. This will "insist" (or at
least ask) for properties when you save a document.

That makes it "prompt" for the properties but not insist that certain ones
be filled in.

Properties can be inserted into documents using DocProperty fields and also
specific fields for specific properties such as NumPages, NumWords, Author,
Title, etc. You can also search for documents specifying certain properties.
