making more space

I need some help with a problem that i have with my
laptop.

I am running xp pro and am running short on disc space on
C, However I have a D drive that was used for back-up etc
but is now free, and has 900megs on it.

Can I add that free disc space to my C drive, and If so
How?

Its only a spare that I used to use for work, but my kids
have been using it and I would like to get them some more
resources.
