When i select my picture and go to Auto Text I cannot see it in the Preview
section even when the document it is made in is selected

The preview is limited in what it can display. That fact that it doesn't
show your 'picture' does not mean that the entry will not work.

Thanks for answering. When I save the entry without a picture in the preview
box i find that when i enter in the auto text entry name into my document and
use enter only the name of the entry appears and not the picture. Is there
something about the picture its self that will stop it from being able to be
selected properly. If I put next to the picture it can be shown in the
preview box. The picture is a grouped imported picture with some Wordart.

If you select the text and the picture then press ALT+F3 to pop up the
autotext box. The saved autotext will be what you have selected. Whether or
not the fixed size preview box can display the picture and text is
immaterial.
