Making an audio clip play during entire presentation

T

Todd

I have an audio clip that I want to have automatically
start with the first slide and then keep playing as the
slide show automatically advances through all of the
slides. Sort of like background music.

I can insert the clip into the first slide and make it
auto play, but it plays in it's entirety (about 20
seconds) and then the slide advances to the next and the
music is finished. I want to it start playing and keep
playing as the slides advance.

I have the slides set to auto advance every 2 seconds,
but that setting seems to be over ridden by the audio
clip.

Thanks for any advice on how to get this to work!

Todd;

The easiest way to have music play across several slides
is to put the sound on the first slide and have it play
across several slides. To do that:

Insert the sound file.

Right-click the sound file icon and select Custom
Animation. That opens the task pane with the Custom
Animation info showing.

Click the sound once in the task pane - a drop-down arrow
appears.
Click the drop-down arrow and select Timing.

On the Timing tab, set the 'Start' to After Previous with
a delay of 1 second (I do this in case there are other
effects running such as a photo being displayed).

Click the 'Effect' tab.

In the 'Stop Playing' area, select "After XX slides" and
use the spinner controls to set the total slide number in
the presentation.

Click OK - PowerPoint will now play the music across all
theslides in your presentation.

Test it to make sure it works properly.

This also works best if you have the sound file in the
same directory as the presentation; if you transfer the
slide show to another computer, use Pack and Go.

Hope that helps...

That worked perfectly! I didn't realize that a sound
object could be the subject of an animation!

Thanks!
