Making a web page with Xp

Does Xp have a program to help create home web pages?
If not, what is the best free program out there to create
a simple home page.

As a matter of fact, it does. I kidd you not by saying this. It is
called "Notepad". For basic web pages, it is best to take the time to
learn HTML and a text editor like Notepad is good for that.

Outside of this, there is a whole host of web site development tools.
However, if you don't know the basic of web page design and using HTML
to effect your site then those web site development tools won't take you
very far.

FYI, I prefer Dreamweaver MX for doing my site. :)
 
Dreamweaver MX isn't free. I know a bit about HTML, so all I'm
looking for is a bit of assistance in throwing up a page.

If you want to follow Chris' idea but have Netscape. You don't have to
download anything. Netscape comes with Composer which does the same thing.
 
You can use MS Word to create a web page. Once the document looks the
way you want it, just save it as HTML and upload it to your web site.
You can also use ARACHNOPHILIA, a free java-based web page editor that
has built-in FTP http://vps.arachnoid.com/arachnophilia/

Use Internet Explorer to find a page that you like, use
View/source to see the HTML and other code used to create
the page. Select it all and paste it into Notepad or
WordPad and save it as an .txt file. You can then edit it
to insert your own content and make changes you want.

Yahoo Geocities has free web hosting and web page tools.

Your ISP may offer similar service.

Dick,

I was only suggesting that you start learning with Notepad. Later on,
you can try moving on. It is important to learn about the fundamentals
and having a solid ground on web site design. You can easily visit my
site http://www.christ-lighthouse.com or many others. Just look at the
source code and you will learn about both good and bad source coding; in
addition to visual design.

The others have pointed you to some good sites for learning, so happy
hunting and learning. :)

Notepad can be used, yes, but the essentials of HTML would have to be =
learnt first.

I "learned" it. Dont know what would happen if you "learnt" it. As I
have no idea what this nonsensical word "learnt" means.
 
learned (lûrnd) or learnt (lûrnt) past tense past tense and past participle.
